Brought my washing machine to Guaranteed Appliances looking for a repair. They were upfront with the cost of parts, labor and life expectancy of my machine if it was repaired.

Life (and food) saver! Recommend 10/10. Too often we find ourselves in a "oh no! The fridge has gone out" situation. When we arrived we were met with friendly smiles and no pressure approach. Hubby opened and closed every single one with the good ol Texan obligatory "Yeppp this ones cold". ? Shopped, decided, paid and loaded in about 30 minutes. They've been in business for 30 years! Voted best of the best. Skip the big box store and head straight to Guatanteed Appliances. The majority of their appliances come with a warranty.

Do Not buy a Speed Queen or from this store. We have rust in our new washer that was delivered 6 weeks ago. We bought from a local company thinking they would stand behind their product. They don't. They push you off to the company. No different than a big box store.

First review I have ever written in my life. I am a fair, fifty something adult who is not argumentative or looking for conflict.

Initially, the idea of doing business with a small private company seemed appealing. The Speed Queen product is supposed to be commercial grade, high quality that you obviously pay more for , $2300 for washer and dryer in 2021. We thought, Commercial Grade purchased from, “ Guaranteed Appliances,” what could go wrong?

If you read the reviews for this business and its owner (wish we would have before buying) there are two common (bad) review themes, equipment failures are the customer’s fault and anyone who questions Kristen Mortenson/owner is argumentative and unreasonable. This exactly was our experience with our purchase.

The first dryer we received started making a grinding sound within a week. Kristen said she would repair it and to my surprise I had to insist that she replace it, obviously a lemon, she begrudgingly replaced the dryer. The new dryer then shortly after that had heating element issues, we were told that we had bad venting, we addressed the venting, so she covered replacing the element. Three years later the dryer quit drying, we were told again, our fault, poor venting after three years, and we were charged $430 new heating element. We also bought new connection tube and external dryer vent cover approx. $100. Within 3 days it stopped again, we were told to bring it in, again, according to Kristen poor venting had made a fuse blow. We were then told that, “fancy homes,” are not vented properly when the laundry room is located in the middle of the home. Guaranteed Appliance referred us to a Venting Specialist Contractor to tear open our walls and redo our venting. This is where we drew the line and we asked for a refund, we had done everything she had suggested.

Oh and buy the way, we were never told about the special outer wall venting requirement for these dryers before we bought the washer and dryer.

We were told by Kristen in a very insulting and condescending fashion that we were argumentative, she was done with us, and to take it up with Speed Queen.

I immediately drove to a big box store and bought the cheapest dryer I could find ($650.) that was weeks ago and we have had zero problems. No venting issues and a real guarantee!

DO NOT MAKE THIS SAME MISTAKE AND BUY FROM THIS BUSINESS!!

The first time I did business here, the lady working, was very pleasant and knowledgeable.. This time the Hispanic lady working was abrupt and rude as well as the owner. The only person that was nice and respectful , was the young man that loaded the washer I bought. . I will not do business here again.. Poor service.. I'm 30 miles down the road and pulled over to do this review.

In response to your response . It had nothing to do with a trade on my old washer. It was the rude service, that I received while at your shop.. It seems by other reviews, that this is a normal practice for your business...

THEIR RESPONSE BACK IS A LIE

Had to return the washer TWICE for repairs. First time they wired the lid button incorrectly so that the lid being shut would actually turn the machine off but it would only work when you opened it. Second time the machine would stop running once it hit the spin cycle.
THEN the transmission blew on it!

FOR EACH REPAIR THE LADY NAMED GUMBY BLAMED ME FOR THE ISSUES! Literally accused me of messing with the wiring INSIDE the machine?!?

Then accused me of washing the wrong stuff the second time.

Then blamed it on my floors. The washer had been used all of 6 times MAXIMUM between both repairs. Jeans shirts socks and underwear! I’m not washing ROCKS?!?

Then when I bring it back again they without my consent swap it out for a different washer (which is fine ) but the one they give me is all beat up (dents in the lid, the side, and the bottom left panel is bent in) I reluctantly took it as I’m more worried about operation use then cosmetics but annoyed at the bait and switch from a cosmetically nice washer to a banged up p.o.s. But I’m like whatever just needs to wash clothes no problem….
Take it home unload it hook it up and soon as it’s on it makes an ungodly loud buzzing sound from the dial the entire time it’s running. The drum vibrates heavily and seems stiff as if it’s close to locking up…

I call calmly and politely to express just a general concern as I was told my 6 month warranty DOES NOT start over regardless of them swapping a machine out on me (without my consent) that hey this machine is making some pretty rough noises and vibrates a lot and she as last time and the time before IMMEDIATELY blames me for abusing the lid and washing the wrong stuff ………

Blames me for all damage not knowing what damage even is

I told her that this was the third time she blamed me for the units not working and explained to her that her technicians already apologized for Mia wiring the buttons on the first unit before the transmission failed. She got angry that her people snitched her out and she got off the phone for a second and then told me to bring it back for a full refund because there “tired of dealing with me and my abusing the machines”

As god as my witness I have never washed ANYTHING outside of a regular day to day laundry. And that machine hadn’t made it past 6-8 washes maximum before complete failure and repeated repairs.

Now I will have made 5 trips to this place hauling garbage back and forth on my dime because I thought it would be cheaper to get a used one…. Now I get a refund on one trash unit and I get to buy a new mismatching washer to go with an old dryer….

On a good note the dryer works. Once you get over the rusted metal it does its job of drying all the rocks and scrap metal i apparently wash in the washer.

I understand this happens when buying used but don’t treat you cash paying customers like garbage especially when you haven’t seen the damages yet AND your own technician has been apologizing for HIS mistakes.

She was absolutely rude and unprofessional.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND before you buy… call them up … pretend you bought a unit. And tell them something is wrong with it… if you get Gumby on the phone …. Be ready to be blamed for your imaginary washer breaking down being your fault.

She jumped down my throat 3 times now and not once ever saw the damage prior to blaming me. (All issues were internal)

Each time inwas promised all the parts are new inside…. They were not.

Buy new. Or buy a good brand from Craigslist…these people sold me two bad washers in a row and blamed me for everything… well just Gumby did. Everyone else was professional and kind.

Christina you need to do something about that lady before she costs you more business then she’s worth. Being polite goes a long way. Had she just been kind I might have even over looked the rough noises and been screwed with my own repairs in a few weeks after the warranty ran out. Now she cost you 400$ for a return we could have possibly avoided.
