Oh my Gosh! I realized they hire su.b contracters to trim under power lines. We've not had a problem before. My neighbor Roger Wade must have asked for a trim. Fine my husband okayed it. In the past they've had a crew with a lift and a chipper. The sub sub contracted Mexican crew had no safety equipment and they ruined many trees on our property. Caught them cutting trees no where near the line

Absolutely the worst. Charged me a $400.00 deposit to move across the street. I been a Customer with them at 3 previous locations for a total of almost 10 years. Never had a deposit before. New account. Won't run my credit either for deposit they based the entire deposit off me having late payments at my current address. Rude and awful people to work with. Zero flexibility or understanding. Honestly one of the worst experiences I have ever had working with a company. I only wish I had another option for power. Unfortunately they know I do not I treated me as such! Keep away at all cost you been warned!!!

What an amazing company!!!! Time and again looking and striving to not just do.... but do GOOD!
Just in the last short year since I have been made aware of this company they go out of their way to serve more than just their clients! They work towards clean energy, they send help when there’s emergencies, they helped plant trees at schools, and they do a great essay contest where the top winners get a trip to Washington DC & the runners up go to the capital for a great program called CYCLE. Thank you PCEC for being a company that goes out of their way to do good!!!!!!

We've been customers since 2005 and are very happy with PCEC. Very happy with their customer service. We've only lost power a few times and have no complaints at all. Keep up the good work!

This co-op is a joke. These people are incredibly difficult to work with and they are very inflexible with payment arrangements of any sort. Behind on your bill? Too bad, so sad. They give you VERY little notice before shutting off service (ONE call *voicemail* the day before -*never even noticed they called-* and a note on your door the day they shut off). They close at 5pm so if you forgot to pay bill, you’ll have to go without power until the next day because they don’t offer after hour service of any kind. This is the most anti-community establishment I’ve ever encountered. Being community driven isn’t writing you a check for $40 every year and offering a hot dog and a bag of chips at your meetings that last 5 hours. If they actually cared about the community then they’d focus on consumer service and try to help members keep their electricity on by providing resources, offering various payment arrangements and allowing members to pay their bills after regular business hours. They make me want to have KCPL again.

Love em! Held strong on the cold snap while I watched all my work colleagues suffer rolling blackouts with the other guys, randomly disappearing from zoom meetings. I was glad to be in the competitor's Northeast coverage gap 😀 And for a largely rural service, they're very progressive on renewable energy resources. They put out a decent community magazine every so often that actually has good information in it.

Just wanted PCEC to know they have some very outstanding employees. First off, I am not served by Platte Clay to provide my electric utility but some of my neighbors are. Yesterday, a crew was in my area to perform an emergency repair. During this repair, the highway in front of my house was temporarily blocked to remove some equipment. The road was literally closed for only 10 minutes yet some rude impatient drivers decided to take a shortcut through my rain soaked yard to get around the closure. I went outside to stand in their path to prevent additional damage to my yard until the equipment was removed and the road reopened. Travis, a member of the PCEC crew on site approached me and apologized for the damage and promised to follow up. I was surprised by this action. Normally I would expect workers to avoid homeowners under this scenario but he approached me, not vice versa.
Today after checking on the repair, Travis and CJ stopped by to let me know that PCEC was going to send a crew to repair my sod,
Thank you Platte Clay for “doing what is right” and for the integrity of your employees!
