Andrew was great. He was responsive to messages. He kept me in the loop when he was coming. He was able to come out pretty quickly after initially getting in touch. He got right to work and fixed my doorbell chime. He had to install and new transformer and swap some wiring and it's all working how it should now. He cleaned up before he left and paying him was easy. Would use him again.

Update December 2022: I used REAM again and another good experience. Andrew tried to help me troubleshoot a non-working outdoor outlet before coming out (to save me money if he could fix it without coming out). But ultimately I needed a visit and he was able to make it out quickly, showed up a couple minutes early, and was able to troubleshoot and find a mis-wired outlet ground and another outlet in the circuit that was messed up and had arc'd and was causing problems in the circuit too. All my issues were fixed and he was able to do it quickly so it didn't cost a crazy amount.

Andrew arrived on time, was able to fix a switch issue same day, and provided a very fair estimate for several other lighting issues as well as for installing under cabinet lighting in my kitchen. I recently hired REAM Electric for a sub panel installation in my garage, and while the final work met the basic standards, the journey there was riddled with challenges that I believe are important for future customers to be aware of.

Timeliness and Communication:
The contractor was late for the initial estimate without providing advance notice. Although I understand that delays can happen, a heads-up would have been appreciated.
On the day the work was scheduled to start, there was a no-show for over an hour and a half without any communication. Only after I reached out did I learn of the delay, and unfortunately, no work was done that day.
There were issues with reliability concerning the rescheduled appointment, but after explicitly asking for confirmation, the contractor did arrive on time.

Administrative Handling:
There were significant lapses in handling necessary paperwork for county inspection. Despite assurances, I found myself having to follow up repeatedly to ensure that the paperwork was submitted, which it initially wasn't.
Communication about the inspection permit was unclear, and at one point, I was misled about the timing of its approval, which damaged my trust in the contractor's word.

Financial Concerns:
The contractor offered a refund for the inconvenience caused, which I appreciated. However, the refund process was not straightforward, requiring further follow-ups from my end to resolve.

Work Quality:
Despite the logistical and administrative issues, the quality of the electrical work itself was satisfactory. This was a silver lining in the overall experience.

Conclusion:
My experience was undoubtedly challenging, marked by poor communication, reliability issues, and administrative mishaps. While I appreciated the effort to make amends through a financial refund and can say the work itself was competently done, the process was far more stressful than expected. I would not advise hiring this contractor.
