Who doesnt love a carnivale. I will say, i dont do rides but i love all the lights at night. What im there for is... you guessed it.. the food. We started off with a grilled hotdog with onion, mustard and chilli.. it was delish...then onto a hot salted pretzel.. super good. Next stop the turkey leg. The incrediable smell will get you in.. added a corn on the cob with butter, cheese and chilie powder.. then onto a strawberry lemonade..last stop was ice cream, the shakes are crazy good.. then we hit the food wall and walked it all off..perfect.. best part was the lady at the guess your weight, age, birthday month. We watched her for at least 25 minutes. Shes actually funny as..but we gave her our $5 , laughed and WON..this is why i love a good cheesy parkinglot carnival..they are the best fun on a Saturday night..

When I was a 21 year old young man just out of the Army, l worked for one of the game booths .in James E. Straight Shows .it was a good experience. Today I am 78 and never forgot about JES and the line of train cars used for transportation.
Thanks for the internet l discovered there’re still in business .

Strates shows is just such a great carnival that offers awesome services.
My favorite ride to see at the champlain valley fair would have to be the double decker carousel it reminds people of their childhood and has wonderful lights and painted decor from italy but it was not at our fair in 2023 which was a bit disapointing for everyone but i hope its at the fair in 2024

Workers are rude and have no passion for their jobs. First time being in a fair in florida since im from chicago and worst experience with the management. They charge me twice when only one person ride and worker cared less instead of fixing the problem. They turned off rides before it was even time and didnt let no one ride anymore. Dont recommend!

My children had never been to the Fair. Neither had my wife. I have two step children, 13 and 10, and it is very rare that I get to experience something with them for the first time. They had never even enjoyed a funnel cake too hot to eat! Typically their father has them for the weekend but my wife and I got them for the Easter holiday.

I rounded up the 13 and 10 year old as well as our 2 year old and we were off to the fair! After a few rides, the rain came down. All the main rides shut down. We left and ate dinner as a nearby restaurant still excited that the rain would pass and we could still ride the rides... it didn't.

Thinking how great it would be to try again tomorrow, I asked the ticket person if we could get a voucher for the next day for our $25 all day wristbands. She sent me to someone else who sent me to someone else. In the pouring rain I eventually get introduced to Reed.

Reed told me they don't give rain checks... we went back and forth. My receipt was in the car and it was pouring. He told me not only could he not do anything for me but because he I didn't have the receipt he REALLY couldn't do anything for me. Then he informs me the only way he could give me a voucher for the next day was if I had gotten hurt on a ride. Awesome customer service buddy.

So I walked back soaked to the bone. The kids said they had a good time but I can tell they are being polite. All I wanted was the chance give my kids the experience of the Fair I remember (not to mention spend a lot more money). Instead we will not be going to any James E. Strates shows.

It is your policy to ,under no circumstance, issue a rain voucher. It is my policy to not spend money places where I am not wanted.

Spent two hours there, they start shutting down rides just after buying a wrist band and then we ask if they do rain checks honor for the next day or refunds and they say "no" at tge ticket booth. Rides were not worth the cost of admission into the fairgrounds. Ride jockeys Don't even pay attention to the rides, and the service from reps is the worst I have ever seen.
Will never attend another strates show.

Kool News USA For The People Wifey

They allow there employees to smoke pot when not on the clock and on the lot and they do not give breaks to their employees like they should when you work more than 8 hours. The owners are also very rude to people around. And they also expect their employees to take care of themselves when they get injured with their company boycott this show

Traveled with the show from May 1969 to October 1975 with Mason's popcorn. Was a wonderful experience. This show is a honest family oriented organization. I also drove tractor to load and unload wagons to and from train to fairgrounds.. Many old friends and memories.
